Boiler Replacement

A Boiler replacement is when your existing gas boiler no longer meets your requirements or is old and beyond economical repair. You may need a new boiler if your existing boiler isn’t doing it’s job! Cold showers, central heating not working or fault lights keep flashing on the boiler.

Generally most boilers last between 10-15 years. After this age the boiler will be inefficient and parts are expensive and not always available. New boilers now come with between 2-12 years warranty which covers parts and labour direct from the manufacturer.

You may also need to replace your boiler if you are altering your home e.g. adding extra radiators and bathrooms to the system or wanting to upgrade to a more efficient system.

You will need a boiler replacement when your existing boiler is beyond repair or you are altering your property (mentioned above). It’s always best to do this before the boiler breaks down completely which is normally in the winter when you want it the most!

If you are concerned about this at all, we would advise getting your boiler serviced in the Autumn, where an engineer can advise you or carry out any repairs ahead of time.

This slightly depends on the circumstances. However if you are keeping the same style boiler (combination / combi boiler for example) in a similar position, this can usually be installed within a single day.

For more complex installations, like moving a boiler or altering the type of boiler (switching from an immersion boiler to a combination / combi boiler for example), could take anywhere between 2-4 days.

However, every job is slightly different and we would be able to give you an accurate timeline after conducting a site survey and provide a quotation that reflects this.

Any gas boiler being replaced needs to be completed by a Gas Safe registered engineer. These can be found on the Gas Safe register website. All gas engineers have been trained and inspected and carry out regular tests to keep up with current regulations in order to keep their registration.

It is extremely important to ensure that the engineer you choose is Gas Safe registered, as this means that they have the necessary qualifications and experience to work on gas boilers. Attempting to replace a gas boiler without the proper qualifications and experience can lead to dangerous situations, such as gas leaks or carbon monoxide poisoning.

When choosing a Gas Safe registered engineer, it’s a good idea to check for reviews and ask for references to ensure that you are hiring a reputable and skilled professional. The gas engineer will arrive in the morning and walk through the job with you and answer any questions you may have. They will then protect the working area and begin draining the system and start replacing the boiler.

Once the boiler has been replaced and connected to the existing pipework we will flush the system with the correct chemicals to meet manufacturers’ requirements.

We will then commission the boiler to make sure it is safe and running as it should be, then talk you through the new boiler and how to operate the controls.

Finally we will register the boiler with the manufacture so your boiler warranty will begin and also notify Gas Safe of the installation and a building regulations certification will be sent to you.

Replacing your boiler can cause little disruption. Your water, gas and electric will need to be turned off at some points of the day, but we will always let you know before turning off.

Access to all radiators is important so we can vent them and check they are working correctly.

In some cases flooring may need to be removed to access pipes etc. but all flooring will be put straight back.

We will outline any potential disruption during the site visit and any additional work will be outlined in the quotation.
