Heating controls determine when your central heating (radiators) come on. They work on time and temperature. The thermostat will tell your boiler to fire at the desired time and temperature. The radiators will then warm up until the temperature has been achieved or time period ends.
Heating controls can also be used to control your hot water if you have a system with a hot water cylinder.
You may need to install new heating controls when you’re current controls are not functioning correctly.
Alternatively you may wish to upgrade to newer or smart heating controls to allow better control of your heating system. This could help save money on your energy bills and reduce your carbon footprint.

For new programmable thermostats and smart thermostats very little disruption is caused. The power may need to be switched off for up to 1 hour.
For replacement thermostatic radiator valves there may be slightly more disruption as the heating system will need to be drained meaning no heating for a few hours. In addition the electric may need to be switched off for around an hour where smart controls are installed.
