What is PAT testing?
A PAT test is an annual test and inspection of portable appliances.
When would I need a PAT test?
PAT testing is an annual check, mostly required for rented domestic properties and commercial settings.
How long does a PAT test take?
A PAT test of up to 10 items can usually be completed in under an hour.
Who should carry out a PAT test?
The regulations state that a competent person should carry out PAT testing. This would ideally be a qualified electrician however short PAT testing courses exist which can provide the necessary training to carry out PAT testing yourself.
What happens during a PAT test?
The engineer will inspect the visual and functional condition of the appliance and then plug into the PAT tester to carry out specific checks of the appliance. When the test is complete, the results are recorded and a certificate is issued.
What sort of interruption does a PAT test cause?
A PAT test causes very little disruption, however all appliances tested will need to be unplugged briefly to complete the test.
How much is a PAT test?
PAT testing starts at £65+VAT for up to 10 items.
We then charge £3+VAT for each additional item
