What is a boiler service?
A boiler service is carried out by a gas engineer to ensure the boiler is running correctly and safely.
Why do I need a boiler service?
  • Fewer breakdowns - as you would expect when you take your car for its MOT, when you have your boiler serviced, all the main components are checked for wear and tear, and replaced if necessary. That means that it is less likely to breakdown when you need it the most, particularly in the cold winter months.
  • Efficiency - a well-maintained and regularly serviced boiler will work more efficiently. This means you are using less fuel and reducing your energy bills.
It is also important to note that new boilers that still have warranty on them require an annual service to keep the warranty valid.
When do I need a boiler service?
We recommend your boiler is serviced every 12 months. Ideally before the winter comes so any issues can be rectified ahead of time and you are not caught out on a cold Sunday in November!
How long does a boiler service take to complete?
A standard boiler service will take between 30-45min depending on each appliance.
Who should undertake a boiler service?
Any gas boiler being serviced needs to be completed by a Gas Safe registered engineer. These can be found on the Gas Safe register website. All gas engineers have been trained and inspected and carry out regular tests to keep up with current regulations in order to keep their registration
What happens during a boiler service?
The engineer will arrive and ask if you have any issues or concerns with the boiler before checking the following:

    • Correct gas pressure and flow
    • Flue and combustion. A flue gas analyser will be used to make sure the boiler is burning the right mixture of gas and air and that the flue is not blocked
    • Electrical connections are clean and in good condition
    • Fans and other key components are working efficiently
    • Seals are intact
    • Electrodes are in a good condition
    • Safety devices are checked
    • Condensate trap and pipe is not blocked
    • Water and gas pipework
    • Ventilation is correct size and clear
What sort of disruption does a boiler service cause?
The Service shouldn't cause you any disruption. We just ask that the work area around the boiler is clear for access.
How much will a boiler service cost?
Wall and floor mounted boilers £65 plus VAT

Back boilers and fire front £90 plus VAT
